History of Christmas

There are people who insist that Jesus is the Reason for the Season, and people who insist that Christians are the only ones who should celebrate Christmas, and others who insist that Christians shouldn't celebrate it all because it's a Pagan holiday. Like most things in life, Christmas is a blend of many traditions that allow anyone who wishes to celebrate it; Christians, Pagans, Atheists... I even know Jews and Buddhists who celebrate Christmas or a winter holiday during the same time frame: Yule, Winter Solstice, Hannukah, Buddha's Birthday, and Christmastide. Rather than insist it's "mine alone", isn't it better to celebrate that people throughout history have learned from one another and accepted new ideas to mix with the ones they already had? The modern celebrations of most holidays are like this... a little bit Pagan, a little bit Christian and a whole lot of history of many ancient and modern cultures. This video is from the history channel... please watch it with an open mind and accepting heart, and remember that Christmas, no matter what name is used, is about love, sharing and giving.
