Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July. Stay safe and sane while you celebrate.

Eat good food, drink plenty of water (especially since the entire country is going to be so hot), instead of shooting of fireworks why not have a water balloon fight (be sure to pick up all of the balloon pieces afterwards so animals don't ingest them).

Do some red, white and blue crafts, read the Constitution and study the history of the US. Have a history round robin bowl (write out questions about the history of the country and have everyone (kids and adults) sit in a circle. Ask each question until someone gets it right. Have some serious and some fun/funny questions).

Make some ribbon wands to wave in the sky instead of sparklers, fly paper or balsa wood airplanes or fly colorful kites.

Eat ice cream and watermelon.

Make pinwheels to twirl in the wind. Decorate bikes with red, white and blue ribbons and have a bike parade. Make windsocks to flutter in the wind. Display flags everywhere.

There are a lot of things that you can do to celebrate that do not include fire and noise, especially in this heat.

But whatever you do, I hope you are relaxed, happy, cool and safe!! Enjoy!
